  • Summary: This assembled collection of photographs covers most European countries, most techniques, and most object types from the 15th to the 20th centuries, with emphasis on 19th century production. Coverage includes French Baccarat, Bohemian and Venetian glass, Russian, German, English, early American and Tiffany artifacts, and some Oriental glass. The wide range of objects includes tableware, vases, cult objects, lighting, pictures, boxes, and figures. These artifacts display most of the techniques and ornamental media of the craft: gold glass and painted, tinted, or enameled glass; blown, mold blown or cut glass; glass mounted with gems, pearls, gold, silver, and gilt bronze.
    Glass paperweight production is represented in ca. 150 pieces, mostly 19th century Baccarat produced in Clichy and St. Louis, with millefiori decoration or portraits, butterflies, small animals and fruits. The photographs of rock crystal objects cover a variety of shapes, decoration, and style.
    Sources for the photographs in this collection include the major auction houses (ca. 50%), French & Company (ca. 30%), and various museums and public collections.
