  • Summary: The collection consists of several thousand watercolor designs in 28 sketchbooks and 39 separate sheets. Most of the designs are for book-plates, book covers, title pages, page borders, etc., and are in the art nouveau style. Some designs appear to be for wallpaper and fabrics.
    One sketchbook with designs for light fixtures, curtain pulls, and other stage-related items displays Waller's fascination with floral patterns and their possible application to a theatrical setting. Among the single sheets are five designs for title pages of works by Laurence Binyon, Hans Anderson and the Grimm Fairy Tales.
